Three days before my plane leaves for Otakon, I sit at a computer desk that I pulled out of my neighbor's garbage. My calves and feet are throbbing from walking around Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom all day yesterday. But, I'm ignoring all discomfort, because I just reminded myself that my plane to Otakon leaves in three days

Who-all is going to Otakon? I'm very excited. I actually won't be cosplaying as Seto Kaiba at all -- I'm only going to wear the Anastasia dress because it hasn't gotten a lot of con appearances, and I can't afford to bring 58406840958049685409 suitcases to be able to have both Seto Kaiba and Anastasia. :XD: But, tons of my homies are still going to do all of the YuGiOh things, so I'll follow them around to the YuGiOh photoshoots to take pictures, so I'll be easy to find and I'll take a bunch of pictures and put them up here :boogie: I miss yawll homies that only party together once a year :boogie:

Otakon is sort of a milestone for me, this year. I'm considering it the last vacation-like summer thing before entering the big ol' grown up world. I'll seriously apply for jobs relevant to my career as soon as I return to Florida in early August... part of me is reminded of the trepidation that graduation was made up of. The idea of actually being responsible for a career is ...honestly, quite intimidating, and somehow extremely different from the responsibilities of classes, internships, part-time jobs or the debate team. I don't feel unconfident -- but, maybe it is a sort of 'where do I go from here' thing. Everything that I worked myself sick for in high school and college was to get myself to where I sit at this desk that I pulled out of my neighbor's trash. Once I actually am working in a news room, then what do I do? It's strange to not have tangible, far-away goals.

But, in April, I learned a very important lesson that I guess I need to remind myself of now. On April 8th, I could only see a very narrow path leading one way: graduation, move home, get job, no more cons. My vision was so clouded that I did not notice all of the wonderful things that actually hid in the shadows right on the sidewalk -- so, when I passed them, I was surprised. On April 9th, it was a highly-energetic, hyper-positive new friend; on July 9th, it was finishing writing a story. It's satisfying to like... actually finish something -- like, characters are my friends, and I've done them a favor by finishing their adventure, you know what I mean? :XD: I don't know what the next step is for the story, but it has been a source of incredible positivity this summer -- something that, when I was in a terrible mood on my graduation day two months ago, I didn't really foresee happening. I guess the point is, I'm sort of pouty about applying for my career because I have fair reason to believe that it will end my con streak and that's scary and sad :/ Then again, it's been proven twice -- I may THINK that I see the path ahead of me, but actually, I have no idea what amazing positive things are waiting off to the side of the path, hiding cloaked in my dim dread.

I guess the other point is, Otakon is really special and I'm really excited for it this year in particular. :XD:
